aiya actually.. what i wanted to say didn't really come out. hahaha.actually i have more to say. & i had a small little 'speech' prepared lol. but.. it didn't come out as i wanted it hurhur. being sick throws you off your train of thoughts -_- so what i wanted to say is.. i'm really thankful for those who made an effort to come down for self-prac. be it the last one or today's. especially today's. 6-8 then 8-10. like who wants to come right. i'll be super zzz \= BUT. you all did. so thank you. actually i was quite disappointed with the turn-out for the last one. because i think less than half turned up. but then it was a very good practice! everyone was cleaaaan until where i'd stopped. you all saw for yourselves & even the people behind the studio that day agreed. so i was quite happy. although i was quite unhappy with those who didn't turn up, & didn't have a valid reason. (accountability, yo.) but nonetheless it was good. (: then the next practice we all had with Orange (the names one), she also said it was good. remember? so i was really happy. then after all that, i don't know what happened. maybe you all got complacent, or maybe because Becca & Orange were doing formations for the next few practices, & didn't have much chance to dance, or because we didn't have slots for self-practices. but everything was back to square one. yea \= it was very disappointing. really. then on Sunday i watched. i was very sad/pissed/disappointed with the item. everything that had been cleaned were horribly unclean. it felt like that day was wasted. really \= so.. i don't know. for me it's if you want to do it, then you either do it properly or don't do it at all. because if you don't want to do it properly, you're just wasting everyone's time, & your own time. like.. look at it this way. you spend all this time learning the choreography & cleaning up, improved & then dropped back to square one again. is it worth it? one day has twentyfour hours. not every hour can be spent on dance. you'll die of exhaustion. so how well you utilise your time is entirely up to you. every minute spent in rehearsal in the studio is important. you waste one second, that's it. you're never going to get it back. so always give your best shot in rehearsal, because that's probably the only way you can improve. & of course you can stay back & practice after. no one is stopping you. but if you don't give your best in rehearsals, but take extra time to practice after, isn't it kind of wasteful? might as well just give full out & everything during that assigned time in the studio, right? i mean, it's great to see some of you guys staying back & practicing outside SU. really. even i don't do it. hahahaha. it's really nice to see this kind of self-effort. but i feel.. just give your best in rehearsals lo. & then there's this responsibility as a dancer. don't come in, learn & forget. & if you didn't come in for the last practice, take the initiative to find out what was taught. & you must really come in earlier to stretch. so for example, class is at 5. at least come fifteen minutes earlier just to warm up. it'll be good if whoever is leading the class that day does warm ups too. but i don't. haha. as in, i would rather spend whatever time i have that day fully to complete as much stuff as possible, than spend fifteen minutes from it doing warm ups. it's kind of wasted too. & what if there aren't any warm ups? it's your responsibility that your muscles don't stay cold. because if they are, they can tear. & it will hurt like !@#$%^&*. a dancer must take care of his/her own body. which includes health. so i'm sorry for falling ill lol. but yes. you should always come earlier to stretch. today we started late. because we changed studio at the last minute. but ultimately you should always come in earlier to stretch. & as a dancer, it's also your responsibility to know what's going on in your item. which means you have to know the formations. even though you're not part of wherever the formation is, you should still know it because it's your item. you are not a soloist. you're not dancing alone. you're dancing with 50 other people. so you need to know what's going on onstage. you don't have to explicitly remember who stands where, but at least have a sense of the shapes, the space, traffic, etc. there's a lot to know actually, but these are the ones i always take note of. because it's my item. i have a need to know. & i believe that a choreographer's best gifts aren't grateful words or appreciative gifts, or anything just to show them how thankful you are. it's nice & all, but ultimately i believe this isn't what the choreographer want. i believe that the best gift is when each & every dancer can give what he/she wants in his/her choreography, perfectly, cleaned, all the way from rehearsals to performance day. it's really a super awesome sense of satisfaction. sometimes you don't really need to take credit for the choreography, but seeing how it comes to live on stage is an amazing feeling. so i believe that we dancers have to put in 200% effort all the time to give to our choreographers what they want. because it's the best way to 'repay' them for all the effort & hard work & what not. really. REALLY. trust me. one day you try choreographing. it's really quite splendid (: but right now, we really need to put in a whole lot more effort. the item is not clean. guys' item isn't clean. girls' item isn't clean. i don't even want to talk about the mass one. -_____________- i'm hoping we can have a self-prac for mass's on Saturday? if possible finish up cleaning everything. so we don't have to come back again to clean it again. hopefully \= yea. i know it's damn long. & i congratulate you for reading up till here. HAHA. you probably don't agree with what i say. but this is what i'd learnt throughout all these years of dancing. i still have a lot to learn, i know. but i thought i should share with you all. because i know some of you aren't taking this seriously enough. & i really think you should. November is ending. & it won't be too long before rehearsals at CC starts. so technically we only have one more week for cleaning up, because i'm sure everyone wants to study for CTs. so.. yea. just please buck up. lol. -- & i hope you realise how rude you were today. |
